Convenience Kills Community

Convenience Kills Community

We're ditching shipping and waste to focus on sustainable local retail, rare drops, and real human connection.

Stay connected via email & follow us to see the latest drops straight out of the box.

Here's our rationale and thought process;

The Constant Scroll

Everywhere you look, at the park, on the streets, people waiting for the bus, or even whilst crossing roads, heads are down, and eyes are glued to screens. We’re living through a cycle of minimal presence, doom-scrolling and digital fatigue,  leaving us either subconsciously or fully disconnected from the real world.

Corporate retail forces independent shops into one big e-commerce race: burning cash on ad algorithms, wrapping everything in single-use plastic, and shipping boxes across the country. Ultimately, convenience is killing community, and we are calling time on it!

Back to the Roots

We’re done shipping products for now, and until it feels right, we want to "once again" enjoy what we do for the reasons we did all this in the first place. With our focus, we can truly nourish our local community.

We realised how much fun was being sucked out of our work and how far we had drifted from the people right in front of us. We can’t fix the whole world, but we can transform our own space. We're returning to what we’ve done since the ’90s: building community through events, constructing ramps, and serving great coffee, craft beer, and skate gear in a genuine, real-life social space.

We’re still forced to showcase new arrivals on social media, but to get your hands on them, you’ll need to visit us in person.

Bringing Back the Energy

Let’s bring back the raw energy of the 1990s and share real-life joy with the next generation. We remember when unboxing fresh gear for customers was pure excitement. Fast, hands-on, and fun. Instead of losing endless hours to product photography, SEO, and marketing tactics for saturated items, we’re refocusing on what actually matters.

Back then, putting the hottest drop in the window invited people in. Today, social media is our shop window. It’s all about smelling fresh ply, discovering new tech, cranking tunes, meeting up with mates, and building a living, breathing hub. A 'Buy Now' button or an AI chatbot can never replace authentic human connection.

Seventeen Years of Scene Loyalty

Prime Delux is an independent brick-and-mortar skate shop, cafe, and social bar proudly supporting Plymouth since 2009. That’s 17 years of active dedication to our scene, including founding our local Skatepark Charity/ your shelter & safe space. Learn more about us at primedelux.com.

We’re choosing to pour 100% of our heart into the real people standing at our counter. Less time taping cardboard boxes means more time coaching, building custom setups, and investing directly in Plymouth’s skate culture.

How It Works Now

When new stock lands, we’ll post quick, raw shots on socials. See something you like? Drop us a DM to reserve it, pull into our car park, and pick it up in person.
